Fraunhofer Research Institution for Additive Production Technology

The Fraunhofer Research Institution for Additive Manufacturing Technologies IAPT is the 70th institute of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft which is one of the largest application-oriented research organisation with more than 25.0000 employees in Europe. The Fraunhofer IAPT was founded by the LZN Laser Zentrum Nord GmbH and parts of the Institute of Laser and System Technologies at the Hamburg University of Technology as one of the world’s leading institution for scientific-industrial technology transfer in the area of 3D printing. Furthermore, the Fraunhofer IAPT focuses on research and development of additive manufacturing technologies with main emphasis on design, process and factory with about 100 employees at the production sites in Hamburg and Lüneburg. The focus is on the application of additive technologies in the key fields of aerospace, ship & rail and machinery & tooling as well as polymers and medical technology for the serial production in the sense of rapid and bionic manufacturing. The Fraunhofer IAPT pursues the goal to empower its customers to use the additive serial production with unique technological performance efficiency as well as highest quality and cost efficiency for the products and to open applied research and new profitable business areas with unique features.
